Four of a kind is worth 100 points, and that includes four Sixes, Sevens or Eights. There’s an overview of the Weis rules (in German) on Jassverzeichnis.
Frequently asked questions
- How many points is each Weis worth?
- Three cards in a row of the same suit are worth 20 points, four are worth 50 and five 100. Every further card adds 50, up to 300 for all nine. Four of a kind is worth 100, four Nines 150 and four Unders 200.
- Do four Sixes, Sevens or Eights count?
- Yes, four Sixes, four Sevens and four Eights are worth 100 points each, just like four Tens, Obers, Kings or Aces. That’s how the overview of the Weis rules on Jassverzeichnis puts it, and it’s how the game on wyys.ch counts too.
- Which Weis wins when both teams declare one?
- The Weis with more points wins. If the points are equal, the Weis with more cards wins, then the one with the higher card, then a Weis in trump, and finally the one declared first. In Undenufe the lower card wins that comparison.
- Does the team with the best Weis score all of its Weis?
- Yes, the team with the best single Weis scores every Weis of both partners. The other team scores no Weis at all, even if its Weis would have added up to more.
- Does a Weis count without a trick?
- Yes, a Weis counts even if the team takes no trick afterwards.
- When do I have to declare a Weis?
- You declare your Weis when you play your first card. After that it’s too late.
- What is Stöck?
- Stöck is the King and Ober of trump in the same hand. It is worth 20 points times the multiplier and always counts, even when the opponents have the higher Weis. In Obenabe and Undenufe there is no Stöck, because there is no trump.
- Can one card be part of two Weis?
- Yes, a card can be part of a run and of four of a kind at the same time. That’s called a Kreuzweis, and both Weis count.
