Frequently asked questions
- Do I have to follow suit?
- Yes, if you hold a card of the suit led, you have to play it. You may trump at any time though, even if you could still follow suit.
- Am I allowed to undertrump?
- No, once a trump is in the trick, you may not add a lower trump. It is allowed only if you have nothing but trumps in your hand. This applies even when the trump in the trick came from your partner.
- Do I have to play the Buur when trump is led?
- No, you never have to play the Buur, the Under of trump. If it’s your only trump, you may play any other card.
- Can I play a lower trump when trump was led?
- Yes, when trump is led you may play any trump, even a lower one. That is not undertrumping.
- Can you undertrump in Differenzler and Molotow?
- Yes, there you may undertrump as soon as you no longer hold the suit led. In Schieber and Coiffeur that is possible only if you have nothing but trumps in your hand.
