About Wyys - Jasse
Wyys - Jasse lets you play Schieber, Coiffeur, Differenzler and Molotow right in your browser. On your own you play against bots. At a table you play with friends, and bots fill the empty seats.
There is no account and no sign-up. Your name and a random ID are stored only in this browser, so on another device you’re somebody else. After a dropped connection, the same ID brings you back to your seat.
A solo game runs entirely in your browser, rules and bots included. A table runs on the server: it checks every move and shows everyone only their own cards. The server keeps only what the table needs to carry on: the settings, the seats and the moves played. Chat messages are never stored.
Cards and sources
Swiss-suited deck
Public domain, around 1850
The cards are lithographs from around 1850, and the Ace of Bells bears the name of the workshop, ‘Hasle b. Burgdorf’. The original is held by the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Gallica), and the scans come via Wikimedia Commons. For this site they were cropped, colour-matched and re-encoded. Because these cards have no printed corner indices, the site draws one itself: the rank in black above the suit sign from the same deck. The back is the original from 1850.
French-suited deck
CC0 1.0, public domain
The card images are by Adrian Kennard (RevK). For this site the corner letters of the court cards were redrawn as B, D, K and A, the way they appear on Swiss cards. The Ace of Spades still carries Kennard’s printed note. The back of this deck is our own drawing.
Suit signs
The suit signs in the trump display, in the trump picker and on the scoreboard aren’t redrawn. The Swiss signs are cut out of the same lithographs, and the French ones come straight from Kennard’s cards. Obenabe and Undenufe have no suit, so the site shows two real cards for them instead.
Software
The site is built with SvelteKit and Svelte in TypeScript and bundled with Vite. The messages between browser and server are checked with valibot on both ends, and the connection runs over ws. Tests run on Vitest and Playwright.
